I’m throwing it back to July 30th 2016 in Skaneateles, NY. My wife and I stumbled across an antique boat show in this picturesque village tucked away in New York’s Finger Lakes region.
Let’s go back to December 2012 when our family took part in the “It’s a Wonderful Run” 5K in Seneca Falls, NY. Bedford Falls the town in the classic Frank Capra film “It’s a Wonderful Life” is claimed to actually be modeled after Seneca Falls. Anyway this was such a super fun event!
After the race we went to dinner with friends and spent the night. Sunday on our way home we stopped in Skaneateles, NY for their annual “Dickens Christmas” event. The village of Skaneateles hosts this event for four weekends between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Again another really fun time.
If you are in Skaneateles, New York looking for a bite to eat, may I suggest “Gilda”s” for some fine Finger Lakes food. It’s a “Small Plates” eatery melted together in a comfortable atmosphere with excellent service. Last evening my wife were in town celebrating our 17th wedding anniversary and discovered this gem nestled at the north end of the crystal clear Skaneateles lake. Together we shared the marinated olives and followed with the “Parma Pizza” a thin crust melt in your mouth pizza topped with prosciutto and arugula = AWESOME! Perusing the menu we ordered the wild mushroom crostini and the evenings special had been taunting me. A mixed green salad organically grown locally, beets, feta cheese and warm balsamic vinegar. Can you say heaven!
We left feeling happy and full but not over indulged. So next time you are in Skaneateles stop in for some fine Finger Lakes food.
