In 2008 I won the “Grand Prize” in a online photo contest for a weekend getaway to the Vermont Culinary Resort in Essex Jct. We decided to take full advantage of the fall color season making plans to travel the weekend after Columbus Day to avoid all the leaf peepers.
After crossing from New York into Vermont we took the road less traveled (Route 30) headed north from Route 4. I recall a perfect fall day with explosive color, bright sunshine and a beautiful woman in the passenger seat. Our plan was to make stops at the Shelburne Museum, Shelburne vineyards and Burlington before arriving in Essex that evening.
Threading our way along route 30 we stumbled upon the quintessential Vermont church nestled under a palette of Autumn color and I had to stop!
