With the skies overcast, the atmosphere humid, the ground wet and some runners covered in mud, the cross country teams had a blast competing in today’s meet at Ann McGuiness school in Endicott, NY.
My son Michael runs modified for his school the “Maine-Endwell Spartans”. My mom and dad who have a home on Long Island and one just over the border in Pennsylvania happened to be up this weekend. This is actually the first time they have had the opportunity to watch Michael run in the two years he has been on cross country. I think they were impressed.
I myself was impressed. Michael isn’t setting any land speed records but compared to last year he has grown tremendously. Definitely in his running but more so in his attitude towards it. I saw this first hand yesterday when I had the opportunity to run with him and his team during practice, we paced an 8:00 mile together. Not only has his ability improved but I was most proud of his sportsmanship. Isn’t that what it’s all about?
