WE GOT MOOSED! The day began for us at 4:30 AM under the cover of darkness and fog in West Newbury, Vermont. Making our way to the 96 acre Long Pond in Benton, New Hampshire the fog began to disappear as we gained in elevation. Once we arrived the silence was deafening, the water like glass and the call of the Loon haunting.

Once again we were on our quest to photograph the moose in its environment, who for the past two years has managed to evade our lenses. My friend Ian however seems to be a moose magnet when alone http://www.uppervalleyphotos.com. Disappointed but not defeated I personally had an opportunity not only to be grateful but thankful, let me explain. Next to the Adirondack’s, Vermont and New Hampshire have to be the most beautiful places for myself on earth or that I have experienced. To be able to experience such beauty first hand while enjoying father and son bonding time, coupled with great friends not only makes me grateful but extremely thankful for all I have been afforded in life.

Winding our way back to New York today the boys and I had plenty of time to revel in our experiences over the past several days. Michael and I ran together while in Vermont. Max and I did a run/walk together, picked a few apples and enjoyed the scenery. Also Michael and Max who adore dogs got to meet for the first time “Willow” an 18 month old rescued black lab/shepherd who is a recent addition to our friend Ian & Lee’s family. Willow is a playful pup and Bandit an older huskie isn’t having any of that nonsense. Ok maybe just a little! They both love the laser pointer! After our lunch at the Long Trail Brewery http://www.longtrail.com/Verify.aspx?returnUrl=%2f in Bridgewater Corners, Vermont we began planning our 2014 adventure for photographing that moose!

A big thank you to our dear friends Ian & Lee who put up with us for several days and fed us. To my good friend Tom LaBarbera for the loan of that totally awesome Canon 400MM F2.8/L lens which weighs as much as my kayak and cost as much as a car. Not a scratch or a drop of water on it. Because I would be living in my car otherwise!

So my friends I leave you with these last few images from today!

Cheers!
