Officially today June 21st summer begins, taking a break working from home today my wife and I decided on a lunch date coupled with a little shopping for an upcoming trip. I’ll be honest I am finding it extremely difficult these days to eat healthier when dining out. There are several options in our area but I would never had thought to find something so delicious yet so easy on the calories, Panera Bread delivered.

Their Strawberry Poppyseed & Chicken Salad which has fresh strawberries, blueberries and pineapple. Topped with tender antibiotic-free chicken and crunchy pecans, all on a bed of crisp Romaine with a light coating of poppy seed dressing to a liven your taste buds. At only 350 calories for the entire salad which is not small by any means happened to be a great way to start.

In order to compliment my salad and after scanning the menu for a bit I committed to a smoked turkey breast sandwich with lettuce, tomato, onion and mustard on country white bread. Now I did order the half sandwich which boasts only 210 calories.

Both the salad and sandwich came with a side choice of either chips, apple, pickle or french/whole grain baguette side portion. Picking the apples I was thinking they would make a great afternoon snack.

I was very pleased with my choices today and not only did I have a lunch date with my beautiful wife I had a delicious and refreshing meal.
