I am in training for my first triathlon, a sprint triathlon being held on April 27th and sponsored by SUNY Binghamton University in Vestal, NY (http://www2.binghamton.edu/campus-recreation/triathlon.html). To be honest I am a little intimidated as the swimming will be my weakest link. My strongest link is the 5K portion followed by cycling.

Last evening myself and several members of the Broome County Triathlon Club (http://broomecountytriathlonclub.com) took part in the first of the 2013 season “Run, Bike, Run” events. I arrived a little early and did a two mile warm up run. The basis of this evenings event was a one mile run, seven and a half mile bike and one mile run. Early into the bike the skies opened up and we were drenched immediately. I think I had more water in my shoes than there was on the road. It was a hard cold rain pelting my face on a course that was up and down. I dialed it back a bit as I was just a little nervous in these conditions but finished strong in my opinion.

I’ve been training hard the last 5 days and hope to get to the pool tomorrow. However my body is telling me now to sleep in.

Stay focused!

Joe
